My book tour wrapped up last week and I didn't get to all the cities I wanted to visit. I've had quite a few emails asking if I'm coming to a certain town or have plans to in the future. Since I don't know what 2010 holds for me, I decided to do a little contest for one autographed copy of Columbus. Email me at derek@derekhaas.com, and in 100 words or less, tell me why you want the autographed copy. Put "Columbus Contest" in the subject header. I won't use your email for any other purposes. You have just over a month. I'll be the sole judge of the contest, and it will be judged purely subjectively. On January 31st, 2010, I'll post the name of the winner and his/her 100 words or less in this very thread.
I'll send the winner one personalized, autographed copy of the book wherever he or she wants it mailed (anywhere in the world.) I look forward to reading the responses. Good luck and Happy New Year!

This contest will end at midnight on January 30th PST. That's one month from today.
And the submissions have been great so far. Going to be hard to pick one.

Did you like mine, Derek? Were all the commas in the correct spots?

I don't want to give anything away.

I will announce the winner by this evening. I've got a few late bloomers to sort through.

Okay, first I want to say thank you to everyone who participated. I was surprised at the number of entries I received and they were all great, except the one that said "I don't want your autograph."
It was fun for me to read them. It was a bit of an experiment to see, with no advertising, if anyone would show up and participate for a free book. I received over 50 submissions, which may not be much in the world of the internet, but seemed like a lot to me.
The winning one came in at the wire, but what can I say, it made me laugh.
SO CONGRATS TO ERIK MIZRAHI!
Here is the winning entry:
"Why I want....well Columbus the autographed copy will be auctioned on Ebay and personalized to Audrey Hepburn. George Clooney’s dry cleaner in Italy will be the winning bidder at twelve million dollars. Ten Million donated to Haiti. The balance will fund my first movie and allow me to open a Dairy Queen in Chattanooga, TN. Monthly revenue from DQ will buy me the film rights to Columbus. Columbus will make me filthy rich. I can then finally afford a lifetime suppy of catfish sushi and fund development of the new Lama-I-Pad for Apple..."

I can tell I need to follow up on my posts more often.
Coolclay: LOL. I'm surprised I didn't get: "That's what she said!"
